Annie Barnes Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Campbell Funeral Chapel - Trenton on Dec. 27, 2025.
Annie Mae Barnes, age 85, was called home on December 19, 2025, while surrounded by care and compassion at Robert Wood Johnson Hospital in Hamilton, New Jersey. Though our hearts are heavy, we celebrate a life richly lived-one filled with love, laughter, devotion, and family.
Annie was born on August 27, 1940, in Rowland, North Carolina, to Ivey Williams Sr. and Florence Livingston. Her journey later led her to Trenton, New Jersey, where she planted deep roots and built a legacy that will continue for generations.
A proud graduate of Trenton Central High School's Class of 1960, Annie was known for her strong work ethic and dedication. She worked at Trenton Textile and later in dietary services at a nursing home, where she lovingly cared for others through her work. Annie retired from Serv, closing a chapter marked by reliability, perseverance, and pride in a job well done. On August 19, 1993, she married her beloved husband, Howard Barnes, and together they shared years of companionship and love.
Annie was preceded in death by her husband, Howard Barnes; parents, Ivey Williams Sr. and Florence Livingston; siblings, Willie Livingston, Alice Williams, and Thomas Bethea; son-in-law, Mark Marinnie Sr.; and special uncle, James Livingston (affectionately known as "Preach"), all of whom she now reunites with in peace.
She leaves behind a beautiful family who were the joy of her life, including her daughter, Denise Marinnie; grandchildren, Mark Marinnie Jr., Whitney Mays (Desmond Sr.), and Marlon Marinnie (Josephine); and treasured great-grandchildren, Lasiah, Jah'vae, Ki'shyne, Ceyanni, Lexi, Desmond Jr., Armani, Daylan, and Omari; siblings, Ivey Williams Jr. and Ollie Williams, and a loving circle of cousins, nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.
Annie found happiness in the comforts of home-watching her favorite soap operas, Law & Order, classic westerns, Bonanza, and faithfully keeping up with Channel 6 News. She was a proud fan of the Philadelphia Eagles and Phillies and never shied away from a good political conversation. Above all, Annie loved her family fiercely and took immense pride in each generation that followed her.
Annie Mae Barnes lived with quiet strength, deep love, and unwavering dedication to those she held dear. Her life was a blessing, her memory a treasure, and her love a gift that will live on forever in the hearts of all who knew her. We miss you mama.
