Annie Ruth Bryars, affectionately known as Ruth and Mema, passed away on March 19, 2025, at the age of 96. She was born on October 30, 1928, in Sumter County, Georgia. Ruth was known for her unwavering faith in God, her deep love for her family, and her strong and steadfast spirit. She was the best cook, and her meals brought comfort and joy. She loved music and crafts, finding joy in creativity and simple pleasures.
She is survived by her daughter Joyce Rogers and son-in-law Landis Rogers; her granddaughter Angelia Bacon and her husband Brad Bacon; grandson Timothy Wade Hadley; grandson Terry Hadley and his wife Angelia Hadley; and granddaughter Marilyn Bunch and her husband Brian Bunch. She is also survived by her great-grandchildren: Haley, Devin, Cody, Dylan, Sarah Kate, Elliot, Eva, Briggs, Blair, Brandon, Meghan, Sadonna, Kristin, Kathryn, and Kasey. Additionally, she is survived by six great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister Lorainne Simpson, her daughter-in-law Shirline Hadley, as well as several nieces, nephews, and their families.
She was preceded in death by her husband Ellis Bryars; her two sons, Johnny and Bobby Hadley; her eldest grandson, Jason Hadley; her brothers Jessie and Bill Watts; and her sisters Mary Garner and Sarah Cheek.
Ruth's legacy of love, faith, and family will live on in the hearts of those who were blessed to know her.
A private memorial for the family will be held graveside in Americus, Georgia.
