Annie Lee McMurtray Catchot, a longtime resident of Ocean Springs, passed away peacefully, on Saturday, June 29, 2024. She was 88. She was born on July 27, 1935, in Vancleave, MS and led a fulfilling life dedicated to her family, faith, and career.
Annie had a passion for learning and graduated from Ocean Springs High School Class of 1953. She continued education at Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College. Her thirst for knowledge and dedication to academia led her to a successful career at the University Southern Mississippi Gulf Coast Research Laboratory, where she ultimately retired.
Outside of her professional life, Annie found solace in her faith as a devoted member of St. Elizabeth Seton Catholic Church. Her unwavering commitment to her beliefs was evident in all aspects of her life.
Family was at the center of Annie's world. She is survived by her loving daughters Cathy Catchot and Leigh Migues. Annie's legacy lives on through her grandchildren: Ashley Phillips (Decker) Housley, Lindsey Phillips (Andrew) Abernathy, Brandon (Jen) Phillips, Dustin (Candace) Gemmill, Alisha Gemmill (Chris) Wise, Brooklyn (Josh Hagbom) Gemmill, Anthony Migues, Melaina (Chase Phillips) Migues, Selena (Kaden Piechocki) Migues; and great-grandchildren: Bridger and Quill Housley, Wryker, Wrenley and Witten Wise, and Abrem Abernathy. As well as many nieces and nephews.
Annie is reunited in eternal peace with her husband Donald A. Catchot, her two daughters Donna Catchot Burtt and Dianne Catchot. She is also preceded in death by her parents James A. McMurtray and Myrtle Dora McMurtray; her sisters Marie Sikora, Sally D'Andrea, Nellie Bauman, Charlotte Byrd, Kathryn Thacker and Selah McMurtray, her brothers James McMurtray, Benjamin McMurtray and Wayne McMurtray.
Annie will be deeply missed by all who knew her but will forever be remembered for her kindness, wisdom, and unwavering love for her family. May she rest in peace knowing she touched the hearts of many throughout her rich and meaningful life.
Visitation for Annie will be held at Riemann Family Funeral Home, 13872 Lemoyne Blvd, Biloxi, on Wednesday, July 3, 2024, from 1:30 PM until time of services to be celebrated at 3:00 PM with Deacon Michael Butler officiating. Interment Evergreen Cemetery, Ocean Springs.
