Annie Lou Hopkins, age 111, of Sweetwater, Texas, passed away on Saturday, November 1, 2025 at Sweetwater Healthcare Center.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 P.M., Wednesday, November 5, 2025 at Cate-Spencer & Trent Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Larry Holder officiating. Burial will follow at Garden of Memories. Arrangements are under the direction of Cate-Spencer & Trent Funeral Home.

Annie was born on July 14, 1914, in Mt. Pleasant, Texas to Alice & Coy Thornton. she graduated from Newman High School in 1932. After graduation, she attended San Angelo Business School. She first worked for her father, who owned Thornton Grocery as a bookkeeper and part-time cashier. Later she worked for Texcrete in the accounting department. After Texcrete closed, she found employment with Flintkote as plant manager secretary. Annie retired from Flintkote after twenty one years.

She is survived by a niece, Wanda Pennington of Paris, Tennessee; great nieces, Debby Gilmore Thomas of Snyder, Texas, Geri Windham of Nacogdoches, Texas; great nephews, Geoff Hopkins of Bulverde, Texas, Larry, Barry and Steve Pennington, all of Paris, Tennessee, and Rick Hopkins of Sweetwater, Texas ; great great nephew and nieces, Brian Gilmore, Wendy Riley, Kendall Beattie, Jennifer Hopkins, Stephanie Hawkins and Rob Pennington; great great great nephews and nieces, Madyson and Makayla Gilmore, Jesse Riley, Ember and Zoe Beattie; great great great great nieces, Xena and Lilith Riley.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Hopkins, brother, James Thornton, three nieces, including Betty Bryant of Sweetwater, Texas, four nephews, two great nephews, three great great nephews and one great great niece.

Pallbearers will be Brian Gilmore, Del Riley, Jesse Riley, Les Thomas, Dennis Kiker and Harold Williams.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Highland Heights Methodist Church, 1801 Lamar Street, Sweetwater, Texas 79556, "Good Shepherd Fund" or "Rose Garden Fund".
