Annie Lorraine Hughes-Nelson was born May 19, 1943, in Manning AR the eldest of 13 children. Lorraine was the loving daughter of the late Troy Hughes Sr and Corene Burks-Hughes and cherished wife of fifty-six years to Carl J Nelson Sr.

Lorraine began her education at the all-black elementary school, Peaks Elementary in Arkadelphia, and graduated from Carver High School in Morrow Arkansas.

She matriculated to University of Arkansas at Little Rock, where she obtained a Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education and a Master's Degree in Leadership Development MSLD.

Lorraine had an outstanding work ethic; She was a dedicated employee of Timex Cooperation; she was a Job Development Coordinator for Little Rock Job Corps for 17 years. She was an educator in the Little Rock School district, where she thought English as a second language (ESL) for many years. She was also a senior citizen project coordinator for the city of Little Rock. Lorraine was a life- long learner. Lorraine accepted Christ at a young age and was a dedicated member of Greater Center Star Missionary Baptist Church for more than 50 fifty years. She lived a long meaningful life.

Lorraine was proceeded in death by her sons Lenorris Hughes and Ricky Jones. 3 brothers Charles, Ronald, and David Hughes. 2 sisters Mary and Bonnie Hughes. 1 Grandson Dewon Wells and one great-grand son Andre Pride Jr.

She is survived by her devoted husband Carl J. Nelson Sr., her loving children 3 daughters; Crystal Jones-Lowery of Coatesville PA, Rosilyn Jones-Diaz and Shawn Jones of Little Rock. 1 son Carl J Nelson Jr. of Atlanta GA.

She has 18 living grandchildren Lee Hughes (Robin) of Murphysboro IL, Karra Land of Charlotte NC, James Scott New Castle DE, R. Matthew Lowery Allentown PA, Recka Jones of Grandview MO, Ashley Jones of Atlanta GA, Foronne Lollis of Frisco TX, and Jasmine Knight of Coatesville PA, Carlyn Nelson, Nashata and Tashana Love, LaTasha Garrett, Bianca Bright, Saddiq Diaz, Tiffany, LaShawn, Joe, and Malik Kelley all from Little Rock AR. She has 42 great-grand-children.

She is also survived by 7 brothers; Troy Jr., James(Cassandra), Donnie (Brenda), Stephen of Pensacola FL, Samuel, Andrew

and T. Patrick Hughes.

She leaves behind a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends to cherish her memory. Lorraine will be greatly missed.
