Mrs. Annie Ruth Meredith Thomas, age 70 of Mount Airy, passed away on Saturday afternoon February 15, 2025, at Northern Regional Hospital in Mount Airy. She was born April 3, 1954, in Surry County to the late James Richard Meredith and Betty Ruth Galyean Meredith. She was a loving mother, granny, and sister who always had a smile on her face and never met a stranger. She would talk to you like she had known you all of her life. She was a mom to all that knew her. She loved to sing and cook, her daughters talked of her wonderful potato salad. Left to cherish her memory are her husband of 51 years, Jerry Wayne Thomas; two daughters and a son-in-law, Amy Thomas Campbell, and April and Hal Hodges; two grandsons, TJ Dupree and Amanda Sue, and Caleb and Katelyn Hodges; grandchildren, Luka Hodges and Sophia Harris; brother and sister-in-law, Tony and Mary Meredith; special aunts, Judy Cockerham and Peggy Edwards; special friends, Joanne Chandler, Theresa Chandler, Brady and Sonya Sechrist, and Crystal Willard; and by several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Thomas was preceded in death by her sister, Shirley Wall; two brothers, Thomas Ray “Bucky” Meredith and Dennis James Meredith; a son-in-law, Kevin Jay Campbell; and her lifelong friend, Dianne Forrest. A visitation for Mrs. Thomas will be held on Saturday March 1, 2025, from 2:00 – 5:00pm at New Venture Baptist Church. The family would like to give a special thank you to the staff at Northern Regional Hospital and to New Venture Baptist Church for all of the love and care shown to Annie and the rest of the family during her sickness.
