Mr. Cleonard Jay Gammons, age 95 of Westfield passed away on Friday, August 8, 2025, at Novant Forsyth Medical Center surrounded by his loving family. Mr. Gammons was born June 24, 1930, in Surry County to the late William Reid and Ada Reynolds Gammons. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 70 years Virginia Lee Tilley Gammons. Cleonard was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, great-great-grandfather, brother, and friend. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. Mr. Gammons was a longtime farmer, carpenter and mechanic. In his spare time, Mr. Gammons could be found fishing, hunting, and storytelling. Surviving is his daughter and son-in-law, Patricia Gammons Beasley and Greg; three sons and daughters-in-law, David Gammons and Donna, Timmy Gammons and Penny, Bruce Gammons and Christy; grandchildren, Eric Parris, Teresa Tobler, Kim Moore, Sharon Holt, Rodney Parries, Montana Williams and Samuel Gammons; thirteen great-grandchildren; five great great-grandchildren; sisters and brother-in-law, Geraldine Gammons Vaughn, Carolyn Gammons Campbell and Clarence; a brother and sisters-in-law, Leonard Gammons and Lavern, Joann Gammons; along with many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents and wife, Mr. Gammons was preceded in death by his daughter, Betty Ruth Gammons Moncus; three sisters and brothers-in-law, Gertrude and Arlys Marion, Viola and Reid Hiatt, Granvil Cooke, Iola and James Inman, Jimmy Ray Vaughn; four brothers and sisters-in-law, Zoy and Maxine Gammons, Ruby Gammons, John Almer Gammons, James Carl Gammons, William Clyde and Ella Gammons. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, August 13, 2025, at 12:00 PM at Mountain View Pentecostal Holiness Church in Claudville, Virginia with Reverend Tony Goins officiating. Interment to follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, August 13, 2025, at Mountain View Pentecostal Holiness Church from 11:00 AM until time of the service.
