Annie Phillips Obituary
Sumter, SC Annie Nell "Ann" Powers Phillips, age 89, died on Tuesday, December 5, 2023, at her residence.
Born in Barbour County, AL, she was the daughter of the late James Monroe Powers and Annie Lee Smith Powers. Ann is described by her family as a wonderful woman with a gypsy heart. She was a master gardener who also enjoyed sewing and was a ceramics instructor. As a very talented and artistic lady, Ann was an avid quilter. She loved very vibrant and bold colors which became evident in the quilts that she created. In 2022, she received the very prestigious Jean Harris Folk Heritage Award in the category of quilt making. Her sense of humor was just as vibrant as the colors she used in her quilting and gardening. Her true joy in life came from her love of family. She will be remembered as a very loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
