Anny (Koch) David
Anny (Koch) David passed away peacefully at home on January 12, 2026, at the age of 96. She was the daughter of August and Elisabeth (Mueller) Koch. Anny is survived by her children, John David (Karen Butryn David), and Karen S. David (Raman Mahadevan); granddaughters, Caitlyn and Anika; and sister-in-law, Maria Czerwonka, and nieces and nephews in the US and Germany. Anny is preceded in death by her loving husband, John L. David, and brother, Ludwig Koch.
Anny was born on December 2, 1929, in Nuedlingen, Germany – a small town in the northern part of Bavaria. She grew up during the World War II era in Germany before immigrating to the US in 1964. She arrived in the New York harbor on the SS Bremen and settled in
Perkasie, PA, and married her husband, John L. David, in August 1964. They enjoyed 41 years of marriage before his passing on December 24, 2005.
She studied massage and physical therapy in Germany and received her certifications both in Germany and in the US. She received training and worked in various wellness clinics and rehabilitation centers in Bavaria, including training and work in Garmisch-Partenkirchen. After arriving in the US, with minimal English language skills, she took courses to learn English and added self-training via English language lessons that were offered on TV. She proudly became a naturalized US citizen in 1977.
She continued her training and learning throughout her entire life, always seeking new information and knowledge related to massage therapy, wellness, and holistic healing. She was an avid reader and knowledge-seeker related to overall healing and well-being and she participated actively in many health conferences throughout her long career. This was not only her profession but truly was her calling. Her passion for healing, learning and helping others was present throughout her life.
While in the US, she became a licensed massage therapist and was a member of the AMTA (American Massage Therapy Association). In 2006, she was honored with the AMTA Longevity Award as its longest-serving member, having been part of the organization for 41 years at that point-and she continued her membership for many years afterward. She continued providing massage therapy services for her clients for many years even up to age 90. She was also an active member of the American Society of Dowsers for many years.
To say she was an avid gardener would be an understatement. She spent many seasons dedicated to cultivating her robust vegetable and flower gardens at her home in Perkasie before moving to Blue Bell in 2012. She was known in Perkasie for her driveway lined with vibrant, blooming flowers stretching its entire length. She loved nature and working outdoors in her gardens.
She was also an active member of the German community in the Philadelphia area and a member of the United German Hungarian Club and the Danube Swabian Association (Vereinigung der Donauschwaben) of Philadelphia. She and her late husband John spent many of their weekends attending various events and festivals at various German clubs in the area. They loved to attend the events and especially loved to dance, including participating in the annual Kirchweih festivals and numerous Gaufest events over the years. She most recently attended the German Hungarian Kirchweih event in November and the club Christmas party just a few weeks ago where she enjoyed spending the day catching up with many club members both old and young. She always enjoyed watching the Christmas performance and nativity scene performed by the children, and especially enjoyed when everyone joined together to sing "Silent Night" at the end of the program.
She was a faithful Catholic and a member of Epiphany of Our Lord Church in
Plymouth Meeting, PA and a former parishioner of St. Agnes church in
Sellersville, PA before moving to Blue Bell in 2012.
