Ansley Earl "Bopper" Cartwright, 96, of Evansville, Indiana, passed away on Sunday, February 15, 2026, at North River Health Campus.

Bopper was born in Madisonville, Kentucky on January 26, 1930, to the late Tommy and Rita (Egbert) Cartwright. Bopper worked as a furnace operator at US Steel Corporation in Gary, IN for 31 years. He then worked another 13 years in construction, and ended his career working at Concrete Pavers in Evansville for 10 years. Bopper was a member of the Concrete Finishers Union. In his free time, Bopper enjoyed fishing and reading. He was also a member of Grace Baptist Church. Bopper was a good, kind-hearted man that deeply loved his friends and family. He will be missed.

Bopper is survived by his stepson, Steve Proctor (JoAnn) of Evansville, IN; grandchildren, Kristie Fisher (Rob) and Josh Proctor (Michele); eight great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.

Bopper was preceded in death by his loving wife of 33 years, Edna (Piper) Cartwright; stepdaughter, Debbie Proctor; and his parents.

A celebration of Bopper's life will be held at 1:30 pm on Thursday, February 19, 2026 at Browning Funeral Home, 738 Diamond Ave., Evansville, IN 47711 with Pastor Josh Goepfrich officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery.

Friends may visit from 12:30 pm until service time on Thursday, February 19, 2026 at Browning Funeral Home.

Memorial contributions may be made to Grace Baptist Church, 1200 N. Garvin St., Evansville, IN 47711.
