Anthony Joseph "Tony" Barnette

 

ANTHONY JOSEPH “TONY” BARNETTE 68, beloved husband of Markeita Harris Barnette, passed away suddenly, Monday, July 17, 2023 in the Edgefield County Healthcare.

A native of Cheylan, WV, Tony was a son of the late Bill and Sara Counts Barnette.  He graduated from East Bank High School where he was an All-State Baseball player.  He pitched a no hitter to lead his team to the West Virginia State Championship.  He also played basketball and softball.  Tony moved to Aiken in 1986 when the DuPont plant in West Virginia closed and went to work at the Savannah River Plant.  He retired from Westinghouse SRS after 32 years of service.  He was a huge West Virginia sports fan.

Survivors, in addition to his wife of 33 years, Markeita, include his children, Amber Jones (Andrew), Conway, SC, Beth Martin (Lamar), Hurricane, WV, Don Chambers (Jena), New Ellenton, Joshua Chambers (Ashley), New Ellenton; grandchildren, Gracie Jones, Isabella Martin, Mason Martin, Emma Chambers, Garris Chambers, Connor Chambers and Bentley Lynch; brother, Chucky Barnette, Ohio; brother-in-law, Terry Hair (Denise), Aiken, sisters-in-law, Donna Lowe (Andy), New Ellenton, Shirley Hair, New Ellenton.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Mike Barnette; sister, Nancy Barnette; brother-in-law, Eddie Hair.
