Anthony "Sil" N. Basilio, age 92 of Kennett Square, PA died Saturday March 30, 2013 at his home in Kennett Square. He was the husband of Mary R. Mozzani Basilio, with whom he shared 67 years of marriage. Born in Madison, Maine he was a son of the late Nicola and the late Anna (Gale) Basilio. Mr. Basilio served our country in the Army during World War II and was the recipient of the Purple Heart. He was the co-owner and operator of Nick Basilio & Son Mushrooms in Kennett Square. He was a lifelong member of St. Patrick Church where he established and faithfully participated in the Charismatic prayer group and was a Eucharistic minister. He attended the Malvern Retreat House in Malvern PA. He was a member of the VFW post 5467 and the Old Timer's Baseball League's Hall of Fame in Kennett Square. In addition to his wife Mary, he is survived by three sons, James A. (Linda) of Swarthmore, Anthony N. Jr. (Ginny) of Kennett Square, and Joseph E. (Jeannie) of Oxford; two daughters, Marie Phillips (Roger) of Alburtis PA, and Carol Basilio of Drexel Hill; two brothers, Raymond (Annie) and Nicholas (Betty Jo) both of Kennett Square; two sisters, Adeline Connor of West Grove and Rosemarie Fieni (Fred) of Kennett Square; six grandchildren, Alicia, James Jr., Paul, Anthony III, David, and Christian; eight great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a grandson Evan, and two brothers, Robert and Gaetano. You are invited to visit with Anthony's family from 7-9PM Thursday April 4, 2013 and 8:30 -9:30AM Friday April 5th at the Kuzo & Grieco Funeral Home (610-444-4116) 250 W. State St. Kennett Square, PA 19348. A mass of Christian burial will be at 10AM Friday April 5 at St. Patrick Catholic Church 212 Meredith St. Kennett Square, PA 19348. Interment will be in St. Patrick Cemetery. Contributions in his memory may be made to Neighborhood Hospice 795 E. Marshall St. West Chester PA 19380. Uncle Tony is a real hero in the faith of mine! What a wonderful witness for Christ! May we all aspire to live as fruitfully as he did! I will always hold his exemplary way in my heart. Condolences to Aunt Muzz and family on this loss of this dear man. He will truly be missed.
