Anthony G. Ciccone
1956 ~ 2023
Anthony Gerard Ciccone passed away in Suttons Bay, Michigan on February 24, 2023 at the age of 66.
The first of six children born to Madonna (Fortin) and Silvio Ciccone, Anthony seemed in many ways a character from a time other than his own: an insatiable reader possessing of a restless intellect ––a deep lover of music with a wanderer's spirit –– it isn't hard to imagine he'd have preferred walking through a woods bantering with Thoreau, or playing sidekick to Jack Kerouac; and as such, an earlier era might well have been kinder in receiving his anomalous gifts.
A true bohemian, Anthony struck out in his late teens from his family's home in southern Michigan, spending the coming decades in San Francisco, New York City, and Los Angeles. Working as a cook, house painter, carpenter, piano tuner, and film location scout he engaged each occupation for as long as it took to meet his simple needs before moving on, seeming to prize his freedom and mobility above all else.
He was a dedicated cyclist; a sharp-witted raconteur; a student of Carl Jung, world history and religions ––numerology and astrology; a man who, even when troubled and distant from his own, valued family; and though a loner ––isolated throughout much of his adult life by the addiction that contributed to his early demise–– he was nonetheless enlivened by community and a sense of belonging.
There was seldom anyone happier around a crowded table than he ––when wine, laughter, and talk flowed freely and into the late hours; and on such occasions ––when it seemed there might never be an end to them–– Anthony was, more than anything, the one thing he most longed to be: Home.
Anthony was preceded in death by his mother, Madonna. He is survived by his son, Angelo Lawson-Smith; his parents, Silvio and Joan Ciccone; his siblings, Martin Ciccone, Madonna Ciccone, Paula Ciccone, Christopher Ciccone, Melanie Ciccone (Joseph Henry), Jennifer Ciccone (Chuck Valleau), Mario Ciccone (Laura (Padilla) Ciccone); and several nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Medilodge of Leelanau's Resident Fund, 124 W. Fourth St., Suttons Bay, MI 49682.
Please share your condolences with Anthony's family at www.martinson.info.
Arrangements are with the Martinson Funeral Home and Cremation Services of Leelanau.

Madonna

Psalm 23
The LORD is my shepherd;
I shall not want.
In verdant pastures he gives me repose: beside restful waters he leads me; he refreshes my soul. He guides me In right paths
for his name´s sake.
Even though I walk in the dark valley I fear no evil; for you are
at my side with your rod and your staff that give me courage. You spread the table before me in the sight of my foes; You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows.
Only goodness and kindness follow me all the days of my life;
and I shall dewell in the house of the LORD for years to come.

Eternal rest
grant unto them, O Lord.
And let perpetual light
shine upon them.

May their souls
and the souls of all the
faithful departed
through the mercy of god
rest in peace.
Amen
