Anthony J. DeFazio, known affectionately as Tony to his friends and loved ones, was a man whose life was characterized by his unwavering faith, dedication to family, and passion for his interests. Born on April 17, 1962, in
West Chester, PA, Tony was a light in the lives of all who knew him. On February 3, 2026, at the age of 63, Tony passed away suddenly in
Townsend, DE, leaving behind a legacy of love, integrity, and kindness.
Tony's journey began as a curious and bright-eyed boy in Kennett Square, where he grew up surrounded by a loving family that would later expand to include his cherished wife, Cecilia DeFazio, his devoted daughter Melissa Neri, son-in-law Rob Neri, and his adored grandsons, Maverick and Brooks. His brothers, Mike and Ralph DeFazio, along with their wives Patti and Nancy, his sisters, Gloria Hamilton and Terry Hawkins, husband Eric Hawkins, respectively, shared in the joys and challenges of life with Tony.
Tony's early life was driven by a desire to serve his country. He entered Army Basic Training later serving as a military police officer for the Delaware Army National Guard. After graduating with a Bachelor's Degree in Engineering from Temple University, Tony embarked on a successful career as an engineer at several companies before settling at TA Instruments as a Manufacturing Engineer. His work was not just a job; it was a calling that allowed him to apply his sharp mind and problem-solving skills to make a meaningful impact in his field. Tony's colleagues knew him as a man of integrity, always ready to lend a hand or share a word of encouragement.
Tony's Christian faith was the cornerstone of his life. His relationship with God guided him through every decision, big and small, and provided him with a source of strength and comfort. He lived his faith through his actions, consistently embodying the principles of love, generosity, and compassion that are at the heart of Christianity.
Beyond his work and faith, Tony had a variety of interests that brought joy to his life. He had a deep appreciation for cars, reveling in their design and mechanics. His hands were often found tinkering with tools, fixing or creating, always with a purpose. Reading was another pastime that allowed Tony to explore new worlds and ideas, further fueling his lifelong love of learning.
However, it was the time spent with his family that Tony treasured most. Playing with his grandsons brought him immeasurable happiness, and their laughter was music to his ears. Dinner with his beloved Ceil was a cherished ritual, a time for connection and shared contentment.
As we mourn the loss of Anthony J. Defazio, we also celebrate a life beautifully lived. Tony's memory will continue to inspire those who knew him to live with faith, to cherish family, and to embrace the simple pleasures of life with gratitude.
