Anthony DePietro Obituary
Anthony John DePietro, best known as "Doc," passed away peacefully on November 29, 2025, in Wilmington, North Carolina, at the age of 88. He was born on June 30, 1937, in Long Branch, New Jersey to the late Joseph A. DePietro and Anne B. Marher. Doc lived a full and vibrant life surrounded by family, friends, and cherished passions.
A dedicated and hardworking man, Doc spent 44 years as a Utility Lineman for Jersey Central Power and Lights in Monmouth and Ocean County, New Jersey. After retiring and some time in Wake Forest North Carolina and Tequesta Florida he came to Richlands, North Carolina, to be near family.
A alumnus of Red Bank Catholic School, he remained steadfast in his Roman Catholic faith throughout his life. Doc was a man of simple pleasures. He had a penchant for watching TV, especially those delightful dub-overs that never failed to amuse him and he was a loyal fan of the New York Giants, never missing a game. His love for classic cars was legendary; at one point, his collection boasted 17 beauties, each with its own story and a few too many miles.
Though often described as stubborn and grumpy, Doc's true pride and joy were his family, especially his granddaughters, whom he adored. Above all titles, "PaPa" was his favorite.
Doc is survived by his beloved wife, Marie Cannon DePietro; daughters, Sarah James Owens and her husband, Jonathan of Stuart, FL, Lindsay Ferguson and her husband, Benjamin of Richlands, Cathy O'Brien of Cranberry Township , PA, son, Anthony DePietro and his wife, Jennifer of Cream Ridge, NJ and daughter Elizabeth Luongo and her husband Reno of Beachwood, NJ; He leaves behind an array of grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and his loyal canine companions, Emmy and Harvey.
Services for Doc will be held at a later date, giving everyone ample time to prepare their best stories. In the meantime, raise a glass, watch a Giants game, or take a spin in a classic car in his honor. Here's to Doc, a man who lived life on his own terms and left us all with a smile.
