Jo Ann (nee Root) DePietro, age 70 of Ridley Park, passed away peacefully on August 22, 2025. She was born in Philadelphia to the late Mary (nee Harvey) and Joseph Root. Jo Ann was a student at Bartram High School in Southwest Philadelphia when she met the love of her life, Alfred ("Freddie") DePietro, who preceded her in death in 2017.

Jo Ann and Freddie were married for 46 years and were long-time residents of Collingdale, where they raised their four daughters. She worked for many years as a supervisor at the Sunoco store in Collingdale. She loved music, especially classic rock and the oldies, and was a lifetime fan of General Hospital. Jo Ann was a huge animal lover, with many pets and had a passion for photography. She also was avid Eagles and Phillies fan.

Jo Ann was also predeceased by her sister, Mary (nee Root) Magee.

Jo Ann was survived by her daughters, Jo Ann (Matt) Hugues, Darlene (Danny) Fynes, Denise (Sean) Montgomery, Jennifer DePietro (Sam), her grandchildren, Matthew Hugues (Shawna), Ashlee Hugues (Sara), Tyler Fynes (Maria), Vincent Fynes (Erica), Hannah Fynes (Brandon), Patrick and Shane Montgomery, Geanna Gok (Jake), Osman (Katie) Gok, Serkan Gok; her six great-grandchildren, Matthew and Leo Hugues, Carson, Alayah and Tommy Fynes, Maverick Gok, her niece, Debbie DePietro, her brother, Joseph (Terry) Root, her sister, Ginger (Jack) Scott, any many more nieces, nephews and cousins.

Family and friends are invited to attend Jo Ann's Graveside Service at 10:00 AM on Friday August 29, 2025 at Ss. Peter & Paul Cemetery, Springfield. Please gather at the parking area in front of the Main Entrance Chapel by 9:45 AM.
