Anthony L. "Tony" Filancia, Sr., 80, a devoted family man and respected member of the community, passed away peacefully on July 13, 2025, following a brief illness. A longtime resident of Hopewell Junction for the past 25 years and formerly of Yorktown, Tony lived a life rooted in service, love, and unwavering commitment to his family, friends, and community.

Born on May 11, 1945, in Mount Vernon, NY, Tony was the son of the late Saverio and Antoinette (DeVito) Filancia.

Tony served with honor as a Police Officer for the Town of Scarsdale for 32 years and retired as a Detective Sergeant. His law enforcement career spanned decades and was defined by integrity, fairness, and sincere commitment. Along the way, he formed lifelong friends.

Tony was a parishioner of St. Columba Church, where his spiritual values shaped the way he lived and loved.

Outside of his professional life, Tony found great joy in the outdoors and his many hobbies. He loved golfing, coaching youth football, a Yankees fan, and was an avid pigeon racer, a cherished passion that brought him lifelong friendships.

On April 2, 1964, in Yonkers, Tony married the love of his life, Janet Johnson, who survives at home. He is survived by his children, A devoted father to William Filancia, Matthew Filancia (Paula), Anthony Filancia Jr. (Billy), and Sally Filancia. A beloved grandfather to Kyle Blanchard (Michelle), Jaycee Filancia, Bret Filancia (Tara), Nicholas Filancia, and Brendan Filancia. Known lovingly as "Grandpa," Tony was a fixture in their lives, cheering from the sidelines, celebrating their milestones, and always ready with a story or a lesson. His love grew with the arrival of his great-grandchildren: Dominick, Maddison, and Nathan, whom he adored.

Tony is also survived by his sister, Linda Rosato (Willie), as well as nieces, nephews, and friends. He was predeceased by his sister, Elise Brescia, whose memory he carried in his heart.

Tony lived a life of purpose, defined by faith, family, and service. He was the kind of man who always showed up, never hesitated to help, made others laugh with his wit and stories, and always put his loved ones first. His voice, his presence, and his unwavering strength left a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to know him. His love will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.

Calling hours will be held on Sunday, July 20, 2025, from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction.
