Always in the fast lane, A.J. Foat, finished the final race on Monday, November 6, 2023 at St. Mary's Medical Center in Duluth, MN. Anthony Joseph Foat, known to many as "A.J" or "Tony" was born on October 2, 1957 in Waukesha, WI to Scharol "Jerry" and Anna (Weyer).
Spending most of his life in the Barnes area, Tony graduated from Drummond High School. At a young age, he spent time learning about cars and engines and he began racing stock cars. A.J. Foat is a name that many knew from the 80's into the early 2000's. He has many dirt track records that he still holds to this day and countless wins throughout his racing career. He loved racing on the dirt tracks and was well known for his success in Ashland, Superior and Proctor. He was self-employed in construction and was truly a jack of all trades. He was a small-town legend and sped off way too soon.
He is survived by his daughters, Amanda Bounting of Hudson, WI and Deanna (Bobby) Culhane of St. Cloud, MN; his three grandchildren, Troy, Julia and Ellington; his siblings, Sherry (Bob) Paszak, Mike (Cindy) Foat, Pat (Kara) Foat, Chris (Dick) Webb, Marie (Dave) Hughes, and Barb Heintz all of Barnes, WI; and his nieces and nephews, Dan, P.J., Melissa, Buck, Nicole, David, Deanna, Derek, Darren, Kari and Brian.
In addition to his parents, Tony is preceded in death by his daughter, Mara Krysiak; his stepfather, Carl Johnson; his brothers-in-law, Dan Wilkinson and Don Heintz; and his nephew, Patrick "Spike" Wilkinson.
He will be laid to rest at 11:00 A.M. on December 9, 2023 in Barnes Memorial Cemetery. A celebration of life will follow at 12:00 noon at P.J.'s Cabin Store, 1040 Lake Road in Barnes.
