Anthony Joseph Giordani, Jr, 83, passed surrounded by family on Sunday, February 19,2023. He was predeceased by his parents, Anthony and Eileen, brother Joseph, nephew Justin Barton, and an infant daughter Gina. Tony has left behind the lights of his life, son Vincent and daughter-in-law Brookie; granddaughters Cassandra, Gina and her husband Joe Giordani-Schull, Marlena and her fiancé Lucas Palmer, Michelle, and Josie; his great-grandson and best pal Liam. He is also survived by his brother Ernest & sister-in-law and good friend Phyllis, and his sister MaryBeth, nieces Christine, Renee, Michelle, nephews Timothy and Joseph, grandnieces and grandnephews, cousins including Ralph DeCunzo whom he remained close with, Vinny's mom, his favorite ex-wife Joanne Donahue, and many friends. A man of few words, his childhood nickname was Harpo. When he did speak, it was with wisdom and often kindness. He was a good son to his mother and in her elder years took her to appointments and helped care for her. Tony was close with his brother Ernie and Phyllis and enjoyed their friendship and conversation. Tony and his brother Joe worked and spent time together at the legion. He was a good big brother and friend to MaryBeth. Tony was a problem solver and fixed things for his loved ones without being asked, no matter the issue. He was a dependable man. Tony was a believer in knowledge, hard work and good work ethic. He graduated North High in '57 & later at BCC he received AAS in Industrial Technology. Tony served his country in the US Air Force. He worked for his father's restaurant, The Arena, making pizzas, and drove the propane oven van for Order Please, the delivery component of The Arena, the first pizza delivery company in the area. He worked for General Electric for over 20 years, many other jobs using his skills as an electrical engineer including US Assemblies MATCO in the late 90s. After retiring, he spent his time at American Legion Post 80, where he served twice as the Commander, and helped to manage the building. He made and spent time with many friends there, including his dear friend Lynn Ames, who he remained close with. He loved animals and we don't think he met one that he didn't like. Tony was competitive, and enjoyed playing cards, bowling, watching sports, and playing shuffleboard (with lifelong friend Jerry Colletti as his partner). His favorite part of life was watching his granddaughters and great grandson grow and succeed, and to be their Poppa. We hope to continue to make you proud, Pop. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, February 28, 2023 from 11am to 1pm at the THOMAS J. SHEA FUNERAL HOME, INC., 137 Robinson St. Binghamton. Military Honors will follow at 1pm at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Humane Society in Tony's memory.
