GREEN ISLAND Anthony R. Giunta, 80, passed away peacefully Sunday, June 22, 2025 at Granville Center for Rehab. & Nursing after a long illness.
Born and educated in Albany, he was the son of the late Anthony Giunta and Jane Vitale Giunta.
Tony graduated from Philip Schuyler High School and worked at Ford Motor Co. in Green Island until his retirement. While working and as a Ford retiree, Tony was an active member of UAW Local 930. He also was a longtime member of the Troy Boat Club.
Tony loved to golf, play cards and watch his two favorite teams, the NY Yankees and NY Giants. However, his greatest enjoyment came from spending time with his family. He lived for his family and always enjoyed hosting dinners, picnics and holiday get-togethers for family and friends.
Tony is survived by his wife, Susan Slater Giunta of East Greenbush; by his children, Richard Giunta of Green Island, Lori Giunta of Lansingburgh and Anthony Giunta (Michelle) of Halfmoon; by his siblings, Florence "Flo" Giunta of Green Island, Eileen Holohan (Timothy) of Clifton Park, Angelo Giunta (Pat) of Cohoes and Jane Young (Timothy) of Halfmoon; by his grandchildren, Dominica Smeaton, Paul Bush, Nicholas Giunta and Kyle Giunta; and by his great grandchildren, Penelope Smeaton, Natalie Bush and Maylin Giunta. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and a large extended family.
Funeral services will be held Friday, June 27th at 10 a.m. in the Fitzgerald Funeral Home, 105 Vliet Blvd., Cohoes. Interment will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Waterford.
Relatives and friends may visit at the funeral home Thursday, June 26th from 4-8 p.m.
