Anthony Joe Hammonds

Anthony Joe Hammonds, 64, entered into eternal peace Saturday, September 21, 2024 at his residence in Fairview Heights, IL.
Born June 14, 1960, in Chadbourn, NC, he is the son of the late Lee Evans "Bankey" Locklear and the late mother, Kathleen Hammonds-Norton. As one of six children, Tony spent his younger days exploring the woods with his siblings and working on the farm. Tony worked in Civil Service for the United States Government and was a 20-year Veteran of the United States Navy. He enjoyed the outdoors, especially playing softball, fishing, and manicuring his yard. Known as a hardcore Green Bay Packers and Alabama fan, Tony liked to spend his weekends either watching football or scouring for deals at auctions. He is known for his passion for music, science, and art and the love he had for his family, especially his children and grandchildren. Tony will always be remembered for his generosity to help those in need and his great sense of humor.

Funeral: Celebration of Life will be held at 3:00 p.m., Friday, September 27, 2024 at Kurrus Funeral Home. Private family interment.
Memorials: Memorials may be made to the Disabled American Veterans.
