Anthony Hawkins, lovingly known by his siblings as "Pandy," departed this life on Tuesday, November 11, 2025, at the age of 77.
He was the eleventh of fourteen children born to the late Thomas and Nartha Ray Hawkins on April 12, 1948, in Clarksdale, Mississippi. When he was eight years old, the family moved to the Hill District of
Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, where he grew up surrounded by love, laughter, and the strong bonds of family.
He attended Letsche Grade School, and graduated from Fifth Avenue High School in 1967. For many years, Anthony worked at Giant Eagle Food Store, where he was known for his kind spirit and strong work ethic.
Anthony found joy in life's simple pleasures. He often expressed his creativity and calm nature through art and his love of music. Always on the move, he could often be seen cycling through the city's neighborhoods with a sense of purpose and independence.
Above all, Anthony's greatest joy in life was being a father. He deeply loved and adored his two daughters, Antionette and Mia, who brought him endless pride and happiness. They were the light of his life, and he cherished every moment spent with them. His love for his daughters was unconditional and everlasting.
A lifelong Pittsburgh Steelers fan, he took great pride in his team. Every Sunday, he dressed in black and gold, cheering them on with excitement and loyalty. His love for the Steelers was as steadfast as the love he shared with his family and friends.
Anthony will be remembered for his gentle heart, quiet strength, and unwavering devotion to those he loved. His presence will be deeply missed, but the memories he created will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
Anthony was preceded in death by his daughter, Antoinette Marie Hawkins-Lindsay; his brothers, Jerome Hawkins, Leroy Hawkins, Thomas "Joe Louis" Hawkins Jr., and Billy Hawkins; his sisters, Florene "Fene" Allen, Natha Ray "Fetches" Warren, Barbara Ervin, Bonnie Mitchell, and Vanessa Hawkins; and his brother-in-law, Joe Coleman.
He leaves to cherish his memory his daughter, Mia Davidson; his beloved grandchildren, Antonio Boyd, Myah Davidson, and Aniyah Davidson; great grandson Micah Anthony Davidson; his son-in-law, Thomas Lindsay; his brother, James Hawkins; his sisters, Rosena "Sista" Hawkins, Pearl Coleman, and Monet Beverly (Hosea); sister-in-law, Yong "Son" Hawkins; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and his devoted companion, Arnetta Terrel.
May his legacy of kindness, love, and quiet strength continue to inspire all those whose lives he touched. Rest easy, Anthony-your memory will forever remain a blessing.
