Anthony Kilpatrick Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by N.H. Scott & Hanekamp Funeral Home on Feb. 22, 2023.
Anthony D. Kilpatrick
On February 25th, 1964, God blessed us with one of his earthly Angels.
Anthony (Tony) was born in Tunica, Mississippi, to Albert Kilpatrick Jr and Mae Kilpatrick. Tony was the eldest of three children.
Tony was raised on Chicago's South Side in the neighborhood of Auburn Gresham (Foster Park). He met many friends and extended family from the community, as well as Paul Cuffee and Cook Elementary Schools.
Tony later attended Luther High School South, where he graduated in the class of 1982. Here at Luther South, Tony got to know God and formed a lifelong relationship with God and his spirituality. Tony then attended Olive-Harvey College and Bradley University, where he met many more lifelong friends.
Everywhere Tony worked, he always met people with his sincerity, genuine joy of laughter, positivity, beautiful smile, and an authentic concern and care for others.
He took this same attitude to Lutheran General Hospital 30 years ago, where he enjoyed meeting and working with his "work family." It is here at Lutheran General where he met his wife, Donna Kitchen, on February 2, 2001.
Tony and Donna fell in love and married on December 14, 2010
Through his marriage to Donna, Tony loved and accepted Donna's children, Michael and Julianna, whom he truly loved, honored, and raised as his own.
We were blessed that Tony could enthusiastically share his love, knowledge, and passion for nature, fishing, gardening, animals (especially dogs), science, bowling, and comics as often as he could with his friends and family.
We were also blessed that on February 10th of this year, Tony celebrated 21 years as a kidney transplant recipient. Tony considered February 10th his 2nd birthday because God gave him a second chance at life 21 years ago. Tony was a huge proponent of the Organ Donor registry program long before he became a recipient. He wished that many more of us would consider registering as donors one day.
Tony was preceded in death by his mom, Mae Kilpatrick.
Tony's legacy will continue through his loving wife and family, Donna Kitchen Kilpatrick; children, Michael and Julianna; father, Albert Kilpatrick Jr.; siblings, Valerie Jones (Kenneth Sr) and Angela Kilpatrick; nieces Kela Jones and Kinnady Jones; nephew Kenneth Jones Jr; and a host of uncles, aunt, and cousins.
A visitation will be held Friday, March 3, 2023 from 4 to 8 pm with a rosary service at 4:30pm at N.H. Scott & Hanekamp Funeral Home, 1240 Waukegan Road, Glenview. Funeral Mass will be held Saturday, March 4, 2023 at 10 am at St. Norbert Church, 1809 Walters Ave., Northbrook. Interment Restvale Cemetery, Alsip. Additional obituary information to follow.
