Anthony "Tony" M. Kirshy died peacefully in his sleep on January 9th of natural causes at the age of 92. He was born in Brooklyn to Mitry and Matilda Kirshy.
He went to Manual Training High School, finished one year of college and then was drafted by the US Army on November 18th, 1952. He was Private First Class in the 98th Military Police Battalion serving 2 years overseas during the Korean War from 1952 until 1954. He received a Letter of Commendation in September 1953 for his outstanding performance of duty as a military policeman.
He returned to Brooklyn and married his high school sweetheart Theresa Zehil. Anthony worked tirelessly to provide for his children, send them to college, medical school and trade school.
Anthony initially worked as a linotype operator for several Wall Street printing companies such as Ad Press and Chas Young in New York City. He was a member of the NY Typographical Union. He later worked for Chase Bank in New York City as the vault manager. He enjoyed investing in the stock market and real estate and loved weekend trips with his wife and friends to Atlantic City and Aqueduct racetrack. Every summer he would get a seasonal rental in the Poconos with the family and enjoy the outdoors.
Anthony was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, family member and friend. He was kind, selfless, loving and the most patient man you could ever know.
He is survived by his three children, Anthony Kirshy (Anastasia), of Staten Island, Dr. David Kirshy (Claire), of Southampton and Marybeth Rogers, of Ardsley NY, and grandchildren: Anthony, Nicholas, Sarah, David, Caitlyn, Lauren and Mark as well as many nieces and nephews.
