Pamela Schoen Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Aug. 13, 2025.
Pamela Brown Schoen, 71, passed away on August 3, 2025 at her home in Southampton, NY

Born Pamela Birdsall Brown on May 15, 1954, Pam was the daughter of the late Mr. And Mrs. John Ashley Brown, Jr. of Rye, NY. She graduated from the Masters School, Skidmore College, and the Parsons School of Design. In 1984 she married Wall Street banker, Arthur Boyer Schoen, Jr. Together they enjoyed a wonderful life splitting their time between New York and Southampton, and Pam built a highly successful career as an interior decorator. She also contributed tirelessly to many philanthropic causes including the Southampton Hospital, where she chaired the summer benefit; the Scholarship Fund at the Southampton Association; and cancer research at Memorial Sloan Kettering in New York.

Easily Pam's proudest accomplishment was the family she created with her husband, Artie, who sadly pre-deceased her in 2005. She is survived by her twins, Caroline, named for Pam's late sister, Carol Hunter Brown, and Artie, her husband's namesake. To all who knew her, Pam was a woman of astonishing strength and determination - she overcame a series of family tragedies and medical challenges with a remarkably positive attitude often sheathed in a wonderfully cynical sense of humor. Pam's good company will be sorely missed by her many friends. It was obvious to all, however, that she was happiest when surrounded by her children and her beloved golden retrievers, Delta and Jay.

A memorial service will be held at the Dune Church in Southamptonon September 13th. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Southampton Association and designated for the Arthur B. Schoen, Jr. Scholarship Fund.
