Anthony Martin Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Day Funeral Service - Gahanna on Jan. 22, 2026.
Anthony (Tony) Martin, age 75, of Columbus, Ohio, went home to be with the Lord on January 18, 2026.

Anthony was born on September 17, 1950, in Coshocton, Ohio. He was the third child of the late Grady and Kathryn Martin. After attending Coshocton grade schools and graduating from Coshocton High School in 1969, Anthony attended Central State University in Wilberforce, Ohio, where he majored in Marketing and Business Management.

Anthony was brought up as a faithful member of St. Andrews AME Church of Coshocton. He was an avid reader who enjoyed staying current with world affairs and was well known for his love of debate. Tony also had a fun-loving spirit-he enjoyed sports, loved music, dancing, and celebrating life. Above all, he deeply loved his family and was affectionately known as "Uncle Ruru" by his nieces and nephews. He was truly adored by all who knew him.

Anthony was preceded in death by his parents, Grady and Kathryn Martin; his grandson, Nezariah R. Covington; his great-granddaughter, Jahlaya Edmonds; his brother, Grady Martin; his sister, Gayle DeLoach; and his nephew, Demico DeLoach.

He leaves to cherish his memory his two loving daughters, Anthonette Martin Covington and Shawnika Vernon Martin, both of Columbus, Ohio; his grandsons, Nehemiah Martin and Michael (Lauren) Fields; and his granddaughters, Araya Senior, Tahirah Covington, Dalaysha Wright, and Najah Covington.

He is also survived by his great-grandchildren: Malane Christian Jr., Khaleesi Covington, Nyah Martin, Myla Fields, Journee Edmonds, Khaliyah Covington, Aaliyah Thompson, Jream Edmonds, Gianna Fields, Nezariah Martin, Nazir Martin, and Kashmir Moore.

Anthony is further survived by his siblings: Otis Martin of Florida; Kathy and Tim Lowery of Bexley, Ohio; and David Martin of Coshocton, Ohio, as well as a host of nieces and nephews.

The family respectfully requests that they be contacted directly at (404) 822-2132 or (614) 758-7458 for further questions, prayers, or fellowship.
