Thomas Alan Lynch, Jr.-known to most as Tommy, and to many simply as "T"-passed away on February 17, 2026, at the age of 62. He was born on March 8, 1963, in
Athens, Ohio to Tom Lynch, Sr. and Sharon Turnbull (Behrendsen). From the very beginning, Tommy carried a presence that filled a room-equal parts charm, humor, and heart.
Tommy attended St. Timothy School and graduated from Bishop Watterson High School in 1981 which contributed to his lifelong Catholic faith. During his high school years, he was a standout athlete in both football and baseball. As an adult, he remained committed to fitness and exercise and the highlight of his day was often heading next door to the Athletic Club of Columbus, where he was a proud member, for a midday workout.
In high school, Tommy began working at the family business, Woodhouse Lynch Clothiers, and remained there until the store closed in 2008. For decades, he was the go-to clothier for the who's who of Columbus. He had an eye for style and an unmatched passion for helping others look and feel their best. Customers became friends, and conversations often took greater priority than the sale itself. He loved what he did, and it showed in the loyalty of those who sought him out year after year.
Tommy was, without question, the life of the party. He was often the last one on the dance floor, refusing to let the music-or the night-end. He loved karaoke, especially when he could channel his inner Frank Sinatra, crooning classics with confidence. Rock & roll was always close to his heart, and no band stirred his soul like Van Halen. Turn it up loud, and he was in his element.
Tommy was also a fiercely loyal sports fan. He loved the Cleveland Browns through all the lows (and occasional high), rooted for the Cleveland Indians with unwavering devotion, and cheered passionately for The Ohio State University Buckeyes. Game days were everything to Tommy and were often filled with intense commentary and plenty of animated reactions.
Tommy loved doing impersonations, delivering one-liners, and finding ways to make the people around him laugh. His signature exclamation-"Doh!"-punctuated countless moments. He truly appreciated simple pleasures in life: a good salad, a pizza from Tommy's or Iacano's with "Pep-Xtra cheese," mowing the lawn, washing his car, grilling out, and spending countless hours poolside with his family.
Above all else, Tommy's greatest pride and deepest joy were his two children, Megan and TJ. He loved them fiercely and talked about them often. Watching them grow, build their own lives, and create families of their own brought him immeasurable happiness. Becoming "Papa T" to Caleb, Cohen, Hannah, Grayson, and Hudson was a role he cherished.
Tommy was preceded in death by his father, Tom (Mary Lou) Lynch, Sr. He is survived by his loving mother, Sharon (Dan) Turnbull; his daughter, Megan (Colin) Bellantis; his son, TJ (Lauren) Lynch; his brother, Mike (Lisa) Lynch; his sister, Kelly (Greg) Ramey; and his five beloved grandchildren, Caleb, Cohen, Hannah, Grayson, and Hudson.
*A private celebration of life for family and close friends will be at Gethsemane Lutheran Church.
