Anthony John Matthews

Anthony John Matthews, age 56 years old passed away on February 13th, 2025. Born on December 18th, 1968 in Columbus to Suzanne Collins Matthews and the late Donald Eugene Matthews.
Tony graduated from The Upper Arlington High School in 1987. He attended Columbus State College, and his various jobs included The State of Ohio Psychiatric Hospital, The Alzheimer's Association Unit, All American Moving & Storage, Fats Bar, Witherspoons, and The First Community Village.
Tony is predeceased by his father Donald, sister Suzie, Sister-in-Law Carol, and beloved pet Missy. He is survived by his mother Suzanne, siblings Paul, Karen, Molly Trovato (Joseph), Margaret (Patricia Hoyer), Patricia, Michael (Jennifer), William. Beloved nephews (Jack, Patrick, Matthew, Tony, John, Max, Joe, Daniel, Andrew, Thomas), a niece (Cathleen), 2 great nephews (Vincent, Henry) and one great niece (Claire). And His lifelong Friends Dan Dragin and David Faure.
Tony was an avid golfer, and his accomplishments include: A Member of the Watterson, St. Charles and Columbus State College Golf Teams. He received the Low Man Award in The CSCC championship.
He was a voracious reader of philosophy and current events, and enjoyed music, particularly the local music scene and was a dedicated Grateful Dead Follower.
Tony enjoyed driving the pontoon at the family's Buckeye Lake Home, and having under age nephews at the helm as well. He also was the family grill master at many cookouts and gatherings.
Tony was a dedicated and loving caretaker to both his father and sister Suzie before their passing.
Friends may call 4-7 p.m. Friday at the Egan-Ryan Funeral Home Northwest Chapel 4661 Kenny Road. Funeral Mass will be held 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Agatha Church 1860 Northam Road. Private interment later.
Tony gave the gift of life through organ and tissue donation. And his legacy will always be that he was a very kind, loving and caring individual with a big heart, who always gave to others. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to The Open Shelter, or The Food for The Poor Organization
