Obituary published on Legacy.com by Cartwright Funeral Home - Holbrook on Jan. 5, 2026.
Anthony Pettinelli, Jr. (Tony), of The Villages, Florida, passed away peacefully at the age of 86 on Wednesday, December 31st, surrounded by his loving family. Born in Boston's North End, Anthony was the son of the late Anthony, Sr. and Antoinette (Mangano) Pettinelli. Anthony is predeceased by his sister, Frances Pettinelli Galton, and brother, Robert Pettinelli.
Anthony raised his family in Braintree. He is survived by his devoted wife, Patricia (Jacobs) Pettinelli, of 63 years; his daughter, Linda Pettinelli Moquin, and her husband, Craig, of Hooksett, New Hampshire; his son, Steven Pettinelli, and his wife, Amy of Marblehead and Tacoma, and his four cherished grandchildren, Christopher Moquin, Angela Moquin, Kirsten Pettinelli, and Kyle Pettinelli.
Anthony was a graduate of The English High School, Class of 1957, and Bentley College, where he earned a Bachelor's degree in Accounting. He worked for Boston Edison for 35+ years as a Financial Manager. After retiring at the age of 57, he established his own accounting practice.
While Anthony worked hard, nothing mattered more to him than time spent with his family and his close circle of friends. With Patty and often, Janice and Mark, his beloved brother and sister-in-law, Anthony traveled extensively, exploring both the United States and destinations around the world. Italy, France, Africa, Asia, and Eastern Europe were among his favorites. Also, some of his most cherished memories were simpler ones, such as camping trips in the 1970s and 1980s with family and lifelong friends, including many trips to Aruba.
Anthony enjoyed his ties with his boyhood friends from the North End. He had a very active life and was an avid tennis player who treasured the friendships formed on the court and also traveled to the Grand Slams in Australia, France, the UK, and NYC. Anthony was also a passionate skier who enjoyed the slopes of New England, Colorado, Utah, and Austria. He continued skiing into his 70s, often alongside his children and grandchildren, before ultimately choosing to settle in the warmth and sunshine of Florida.
