Anthony (Tony) Puleo of Sarasota FL passed away on April 19, 2025 after a courageous battle with dementia, just 2 weeks shy of his 84th birthday.
Tony grew up in Bloomfield NJ and was a Bloomfield High School graduate of 1959. Tony resided in Bloomfield his entire life before relocating to Sarasota FL in 2007.
Tony served in the New Jersey Army National Guard from 1962 to 1968. He worked as a draftsman at Western Electric and in later years owned/managed and maintained apartment buildings in East Orange NJ and Newark NJ with his father and son. He retired in 1997.
Tony had a tremendous love of trains and cities such as London and New York City. Some of his favorite pastimes were traveling to Williamsburg VA or spending the day in New York City, riding the subway, and enjoying a dish of linguine and clam sauce at Pesce Pasta in Greenwich Village.
Tony is predeceased by his parents James and Florence (née Mercurio) Puleo and his brother, George Puleo.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 55 years, Mary Ellen (née Bellofatto), his son Anthony, daughter-in-law Jaclyn, grandchildren Anthony and Amelia and a host of nieces and nephews.
A funeral mass will be held at St. Valentine Church in Bloomfield NJ on Saturday, June 14, 2025, at 11:00am. A repast will follow at Bella Italia Restaurant in Orange NJ.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Pines of Sarasota Foundation (tinyurl.com/PinesDonate) in Tony's memory.
