Anthony E. Rapp, of New Providence, NJ, passed away peacefully on June 19, 2025, at the age of 93.
Visiting will be held in Paul Ippolito Summit Memorial, 7 Summit Ave., Summit, NJ 07901on Thursday, June 26th from 4-7 PM. Relatives and friends may go directly to Our Lady of Peace Church, 111 South St., New Providence, NJ 07974 on Friday, June 27th for a short viewing in church beginning at 10:30 AM followed by the Funeral Mass at 11 AM. Entombment to follow in St. Teresa's Mausoleum, Summit, NJ.
Mr. Rapp was born and raised in Pittsburgh, PA and has been a long time resident of Madison, NJ.
After graduating high school, Anthony received his BA from the University of Pittsburgh and embarked on a career as a CPA. He joined Touche, Ross, Niven, Bailey and Smart in 1956. He attended Harvard University to complete an Advanced Management Program, and ultimately became the managing partner of the New York office of the firm by then known as Touche Ross, before retiring in 1994.
He was a knight of the Sovereign Military Order of Malta (founded c. 1099) and worked as a volunteer eucharistic minister at Morristown Medical Center for many years. He ministered to the sick and the poor, bringing some to the Marian shrine in Lourdes, France. He traveled extensively and was persuaded to take up golf.
Anthony is the beloved husband of 73 years to Josephine (nee Zupcic); loving father of Theresa J. Ashman and her husband Robert, Gregory J. Rapp and Dr. Mark A. Rapp and his wife Erin; cherished grandfather of Dr. Elizabeth Ashman, Reganne Manahan Rapp, Alexandra "Lexi" Rapp and the late Christopher Ashman.
