Anthony P. Siminski, age 80 of Morrice passed away Tuesday, July 12, 2022, at his home. A Memorial Mass honoring Mr. Siminski will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, July 21, 2022, at St. Mary Catholic Church, 509 Main Street, Morrice, MI 48857. The family will receive friends beginning at 10:00 AM until the time of the Mass. Monsignor George C. Michalek will celebrate.
Tony was born on October 23, 1941, in Detroit, Michigan to the late Felix and Ann (Falkowski) Siminski. He was a graduate of Durand High School. He bravely served his country in the United States Airforce, enlisting on October 8, 1959, and was honorably discharged on October 7, 1963. Upon his return he married his soulmate, Sydney Kiernan on February 8, 1964, at Saint Mary Queen of Angels Catholic Church in Swartz Creek. Together they recently celebrated 58 years of marriage and resided in Morrice for 46 years. Tony retired from General Motors in 1991 following 30 years of service as a Union Representative. He was a faithful member of the catholic church throughout his entire life, and an active member in the Knights of Columbus. His love for horses led him to become a member of the Shiawassee County Sheriff's Mounted Posse. Meanwhile in his retirement, he was a cutman for a construction company, never able to slow down. All the while he kept busy with harness racing. He enjoyed training pacers and trotters and traveled to the fairgrounds competing. He loved watching football (Go Blue!) but especially his cowboy shows. But what he found the greatest passion for was his grandkids, whom he spent time with by taking them to garage sales, spreading his horse knowledge of how to ride and care for them, relaxing in the gazebo listening to Native American music and reminiscing about his time in the Air Force, and by taking them to fireworks shows. (They'll never forget the constant "ooo's and ahhh's").
He will forever be remembered by his flannel shirts, white cowboy hat, "sore loser", strawberry shakes and the tremendous amount of love he had for his family.
He is survived by his wife; Sydney, his children; Daniel Siminski, Kristine (Dean) Ocenasek, and Kelly (Timothy) Hubble, his grandchildren; Anthony, Autumn, Jonah, Ashleigh, Joseph, Samantha, Nickolas, and Alyssa, his great-grandson; Logan, his siblings; Hedwig McGinnis, Michael Siminski, Daniel (Peggy) Siminski, and Roger Siminski, numerous extended family members and friends. Tony was preceded in death by his parents; Felix and Ann Siminski and his brother Ronald Siminski.
The family wishes to thank Memorial Hospice for their compassionate care and guidance.
