Anthony (Tony) Tepper passed away peacefully at home on May 25, 2025, at the age of 84. He was born on October 31, 1940, in Hamtramck, Michigan.
A devoted husband and father, Tony was deeply loved by his family and friends. He had a special fondness for his children's four-legged companions and found great joy in their presence. He spent more than half his life in Troy, Michigan, where he was among the original parishioners of St. Anastasia Church and a founding member of its Knights of Columbus chapter.
Tony took immense pride in his home and lawn, especially his cherished trees. A stickler for cleanliness, he cared for his surroundings with dedication and precision.
He loved spending time near the warm waters of the Atlantic Ocean, for its great fishing, watching cruise ships glide by on the horizon, and marveling at rockets launching into the sky. His Florida days were enriched by card games and potlucks with cherished friends.
A man of many interests, Tony was a loyal viewer of CNN and the stock market ticker, and he never passed up an Adam Sandler movie. He especially treasured mornings spent planning his day with his beloved wife, Mary Ann, while watching Family Feud. He was also a passionate fan of the Detroit Tigers and NASCAR.
Professionally, Tony enjoyed a long and successful career with Ford Motor Company and DuPont Automotive. Even in retirement, he continued working as a "Kelly Girl." Beyond work, he was an avid bowler and dedicated Boy Scout mentor, using his skills to engineer award-winning pinewood derby cars and bake intricate, multi-layer buttercream cakes. He also coached youth soccer and proudly supported his children in all their endeavors. After the loss of his wife, he deeply missed their time volunteering together.
Tony was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Mary Ann, and their son, Tony Pat. He is survived by his brother, Richard Tepper (pre-deceased by Nancy); his daughter Mary and her beloved four-legged companions (Emy LouLou and Mister Miniature); his son Matt and family (Jennifer, Joselyn, Jack, and Connor); and his daughter Tricia and her cherished four-legged companions (Dee and Lou). Tony leaves behind a legacy of love, dedication, and dry humor that will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by his family, friends, and neighbors.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Anastasia Catholic Church (4571 John R Road, Troy MI 48085) on Thursday, June 5, 2025 at 10 a.m. Friends may visit beginning at 9:30 a.m. All are welcome to join the family in a procession to White Chapel Memorial Park Cemetery (621 W Long Lake Rd, Troy MI 48098) for interment after and then to the American Polish Cultural Center (2975 E Maple Rd, Troy MI 48083) for lunch and a celebration of Tony's life.
Memorial donations may be made to ASPCA.
