Anthony "Tony" Howard Tingle, 67, passed away on Thursday, May 22, 2025, of heart failure. He was born in Louisville, Kentucky on May 29, 1957 to the late Howard C. and Elizabeth (Bright) Tingle.
Tony was a high school football hero, graduating from Westport High School, Louisville, Kentucky, in 1975. Football was his passion. He played football with semi-pro team, Kentucky Trackers, of Louisville and the "MFL" of Bloomington, Indiana, coached high school and youth football teams, and watched a lot of it on TV.
Tony was a decent shade tree mechanic and excelled in the garden, growing beautiful flowers and fine tomatoes. He worked for John Mellencamp from 1986 to 2012 and traveled around the world, serving in various capacities of security, wardrobe and catering.
Tony was known and loved for his exceptional wit and physical humor. He was a father of twins, grandfather of four, and dearly loved by his wife Merrilee of 43 years. He was loved by aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
He is survived by his wife Merrilee (Hill) of Seymour; his children, Adam Tingle of Louisville and Claire Coppage of Jeffersonville; son-in-law, Zack; his grandchildren, Savannah, Mallory and Jackson Coppage, and Olivia Tingle; and his brothers, Jamie Tingle of Auburn, California and Joe Ray Tingle of Louisville.
Tony is preceded in death by his parents, Howard and Elizabeth (Bright) Tingle; his sister, Susan Tingle; and his brother-in-law Mark Ripley (Holly Hill).
A Celebration of Life will be held in September of this year in Tony's hometown of Louisville.
