Obituary published on Legacy.com by Silverton Memorial Funeral Home - Toms River on Nov. 23, 2025.
Anthony Gerard Verra Jr. was called home to be with the Lord on November 21, 2025, at the age of 57. Native of
Toms River, New Jersey, residing in Bayville, Anthony was born on March 21, 1968, in Manhattan, NY and departed from this life in
Toms River, New Jersey.
Anthony's journey began as the cherished son of Maureen Allen. His formative years were shared with his beloved father, Edward B. Allen III, siblings, John J. Verra and Edward B. Allen IV, and his dear sister, Maureen J. Allen. Anthony was a graduate of Toms River Highschool North, Class of 1986 which laid the foundation for a future filled with hard work and dedication.
In his professional life, Anthony was a man of the earth, cultivating a career that saw him own multiple tree service companies and later sharing his hard-earned expertise as a CDL Driver for Aggressive Paving in Brick. His work ethic was matched only by his generosity, as he served his community with the same dedication he applied to his professional endeavors. Anthony's work was a testament to his commitment to building a better world, one tree, and one road at a time.
Although his work was important, Anthony's true joy was found in the presence of his family. He was a beacon of love and kindness to his mother, Maureen, his father, Edward, and his siblings. The loss of his wife, Maryann Gorman, was a sorrow. Anthony's role as a godfather and uncle was one he cherished deeply, nurturing the lives of his goddaughter and niece, Maureen Durante, and his nieces Taylor A. Allen, Kendal E. Joyner, Micah J. Allen, and Francesca C. Allen. His godsons and nephews, Roman M. Durante, Ross M. Durante, and Ryan M. Durante, will forever remember his guidance and gentle wisdom.
Anthony lived his faith through acts of kindness and a spirit of giving. He found joy in the simple pleasures of life, cherishing time with his family above all else. Anthony's life was a living sermon of compassion, extending a helping hand to all who needed it.
Anthony's passions extended to the excitement of sports, where he loyally cheered for the Miami Dolphins and the New York Yankees. Yet, nothing compared to the warmth he felt during Thanksgiving, his favorite holiday, a time when the warmth of his home and the laughter of his loved ones surrounded him. As he watched his nieces and nephews grow, he thrived on their accomplishments and adventures, always their steadfast supporter.
Generous, loving, and thoughtful-these words only begin to capture the essence of Anthony Gerard Verra Jr. He was a man who gave without expecting anything in return, loved without conditions, and thought deeply about the well-being of others. His legacy is one of unwavering love and selfless service.
As we bid farewell to Anthony, we take solace in the knowledge that he is now at peace in the eternal embrace of our Lord. His memory will be cherished, his love will continue to guide us, and his spirit will remain a comforting presence in the lives he touched. We celebrate the blessing that was Anthony's life and find comfort in the promise of our faith that we shall one day be reunited in God's heavenly kingdom.
Rest in peace, dear Anthony, until we meet again in the glorious presence of our Creator.
