Hard as diamond, with a heart of gold.

Player in a prairie that became a Chicago city block. Alleged instigator of assorted childhood hijinks. Early morning hoops shooter. Matter of fact glass ceiling breaker.

First art teacher. Schoolyard batting practice pitcher. Seamstress supreme. Wielder of axes, hacksaws, and paint rollers. Never began a household project- no matter how complex- that wasn't finished the same day. Blessed with an abundance of energy and not so much patience. Cubs fan. Head groundskeeper. Despite the seeming statistical impossibility, always right about everything. Possessor of a sneakily subversive sense of humor.

Loving wife of Thomas for 67 years.

Daughter. Sister. Wife. Mother. Aunt. Sister-in-law. Mother-in-law. Grandmother. Great grandmother. Emphasis on great.

Exemplary mother to Jean (Jeff) Heckman and John. Adoring grandmother of Cameron (Nicole) and Jacob (Allison). Astounded great grandmother to Huxley, Emmett, Gideon, and a player to be named later. Aunt to a host of beloved nieces and nephews.

Sister to John, Marty, Rose, and Mary.

Finally, simply: Mom

A visitation will be held on Monday, March 17, from 10am until a mass at 12noon at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, 1023 McHenry Ave, Crystal Lake. Interment will follow at Maryhill Catholic Cemetery and Mausoleum.
