Antonio "Tony" Dominguez, a beloved figure known for his unwavering devotion to family, faith, and community, passed away peacefully on May 23, 2025, in San Antonio, Texas. He leaves behind a legacy of loving service and dedication that will be profoundly missed by all who had the fortune of knowing him.
Born in San Antonio on January 2, 1943, Tony grew into a pillar of strength and wisdom for his family and community. Married to the love of his life, Carolina Dominguez, Tony was a father whose heart knew no bounds, forever proud of his daughter, Patsy (Richard) Delgado, and overjoyed by the blessings of his grand-daughter, Brandie Delgado, and great-grandchildren, Zoey and Cooper. His brother, Adolfo Dominguez, together with numerous nieces and nephews, will forever cherish the memories of Tony's guiding presence.
Tony dedicated his life to the care and upkeep of the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Little Flower alongside the Discalced Carmelite Friars. For 55 years, his dependable hands tended to the Basilica's sacred spaces with pride and diligence, ensuring that the friars' monastery and the entire Little Flower School campus stood as welcoming places of worship and learning. His role extended beyond that of maintenance; he was a steadfast comrade to the friars, staff, parishioners, and school community, providing support and solace in times of need.
Tony's indomitable spirit was not only reflected in his work. As a father and grandfather, he was the embodiment of love, teaching those around him the value of kindness, patience, and family. He was also an adept handyman, often using his skills to help neighbors and friends. His wisdom derived from a life rich with experience, and his advice was sought by many.
Described as loving, wise, and handy, Tony epitomized the virtues of St. Therese whom he so ardently followed and served. His dedication to the Discalced Carmelite Friars and the Basilica was more than a job; it was a testament to his faith and his selfless character.
Antonio "Tony" Dominguez will be profoundly missed, but his legacy will live on through the wonderful deeds he performed and the loving memories he created. Though he has left this earthly realm, his spirit and the echoes of his dedication will continue to inspire and guide us. Tony's life was a beacon of hope and a reminder that service to others is the truest form of love. May he rest in peace, knowing that his life was a well-lived journey of faith, love, and exceptional devotion.
