In loving memory of
Antonio Sosa-Lopez
"Hard to believe you're truly gone,
like a quiet breeze at break of dawn.
But in our hearts, you still remain-
a gentle echo, soft as rain."
With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Antonio Sosa-Lopez, a beloved son, father, grandfather, and brother, who departed this life on September 26, 2025, in Newark, New Jersey.
Born on June 18, 1961, Antonio was the beloved son of Salvador Sosa-Cruz (deceased) and Carmen Lopez-Cruz. He was a proud father to Christina Sosa, Jennifer Mateo, and Eric Sosa, and grandfather to Jadiel Mateo, Kiannah Rodriguez, Xavious Sosa, and Yajamaris Mateo. He is preceded in death by his grandchildren Xavier Sosa-Torres and Sabier Mateo.
Antonio is also survived by his siblings Noel Sosa, Orlando Sosa, Martha Gomez, Osvaldo Gomez, and his ex-wife, Santa Perez, who will remember him for his strength, charm, and love for his family.
A painter by trade, Antonio dedicated over 30 years to his craft, leaving behind not only walls of color but a legacy of hard work and pride in everything he touched. He was known for his intelligence, charm, and strong-willed qualities that made him unforgettable to all who knew him.
Antonio's passions were as vibrant as his personality. He found joy in music, playing various instruments with ease, dancing, cheering on his favorite football team, and sharing laughter over games of dominoes. He also had a deep appreciation for architecture, often admiring the beauty and structure of buildings with an artist's eye.
As we say goodbye, we find comfort in the words of Christina Rossetti:
Let Me Go
"When I come to the end of the road, And the sun has set for me
I want no rites in a gloom filled room. Why cry for a soul set free?
Miss me a little, but not for long
Remember the love that once we shared-
Miss me, but let me go."
*Private services will be held at a later date.
