Antonio Alisandro ”Tony” Valencia, 86, a lifelong resident of Espanola, NM, passed away on October 22, 2025. Tony was born on June 1, 1939, in Ranchitos, New Mexico.
In his early adult life Tony was in the National Guard. For over 55 years he was a proud member of the Sheet Metal Workers Union 49. Tony was a resourceful, talented and energetic worker who took pride in his work as a sheet metal worker for Johnson Controls from where he retired. Tony helped several community members of the Espanola valley with their heating and cooling units including the Sacred Heart Church where he was an integral member. Tony enjoyed fishing and camping in the beautiful mountains and lakes of northern New Mexico. He also enjoyed road trips to the national parks of the southwest.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Dulcinea Gonzales and Martin Valencia, older brother Ben and younger sister Mary.
Tony is survived by his children Angela Arellano (Larry), Dennis Valencia, and Marlene Valencia; grandchildren Matthew Valencia (Yvonne), Leah Valencia (Chris), Annie Marquez (Jaime), Daniel Valencia (Laura), Lauren Arellano, Allison Arellano Montoya (Shane); great grandchildren Alessandra Valencia, Alicia Marquez, Carlos Marquez, Romi Valencia, Louie Valencia, Camila Carrete, Catalina Carrete, and Sylvie Montoya.
A Celebration of Life/Funeral for Antonio A. Valencia will be Thursday, October 30, 2025, in Espanola, NM, a Viewing will be from 8:30 a.m. to 9:00 am, at DeVargas Funeral Home in Espanola, NM. A Rosary will begin at 9:30 am, with Funeral Service to start at 10:30 am at Sacred Heart Church in Espanola, NM, with the interment to follow at the Sacred Heart Cemetery. A 1:00 pm, luncheon will be hosted by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints at 1008 Fairview Lane, Espanola 87532 following the interment.
