Apollonia "Lona" (Armellino) Riccio 71 of New Haven passed away November 15, 2025 at St. Raphael Campus of Yale New Haven Hospital surrounded by her loved ones. She was born November 25, 1953 in Faicchio, Italy to the late Emilio and Michelina (Antenucci) Armellino. Lona is survived by her devoted husband of 52 years, Alfredo Riccio and their three children; Mary Ann Supik (Chris) of Clinton, Angelo Riccio (Ashley) of New Haven and Lisa Funaro (Marc) of New Haven along with grandchildren; Alfredo "A.J." Supik, Alissa Supik, Giuliana Flagge-Riccio and Marc Funaro Jr. Apollonia is also survived by her siblings; Domenic Armellino (Charlene) of East Haven and Rina Casertano (widow of Anthony) of East Haven.
Lona was a quality control supervisor for many years until her retirement. One of her greatest joys was planting and admiring her flowers. She cherished hosting family gatherings and celebrating holidays, filling each occasion with warmth, tradition, and love. More than anything, she enjoyed spending time with her family whom she so adored.
The family would like to extend a sincere "Thank You" to the staff with Yale New Haven Health at Home and Verdi 3 North MICU for their exceptional care and compassion.
Family will receive friends on Friday November 21, 2025 from 8 AM until 10:30 AM in the Clancy-Palumbo Funeral Home, 43 Kirkham Ave., East Haven CT 06512. Her funeral procession will then leave Clancy-Palumbo Funeral Home for a 11 AM Mass of Christian Burial in St. Pio of Pietrelcina Parish at the Church of St. Bernadette, 385 Townsend Ave., New Haven with Committal/Burial to follow at East Lawn Cemetery in East Haven.
