Archie D. Dash of Sun Prairie passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 14, 2025. He was 92 years young, walking several miles a day, driving, and maintaining an active, happy life, sharing jokes and laughter with his family until near the end.

Archie’s incredible life began humbly on January 29, 1933 in Highgate, Vermont, born to Allan and Geraldine Dash. He was the oldest of 10 children. His natural proficiency with numbers and mechanics led him to a career in electrical engineering.

It was at Wally’s Dance Hall in Roxbury, Boston, MA, that Archie first became entranced with a certain fetching young woman. After initially rejecting his advances, Dorothy (Dotty) Cavanaugh said ‘Yes’ to his proposal on the fire escape at Wally’s. They were married a week later in a double ceremony on June 18, 1952 with Archie’s sister and her fiancé. It was a short honeymoon since Archie then shipped off to serve his country in Korea and Dotty didn’t see him again for 18 months. Archie and Dotty were together for 73 incredible years!

Archie enjoyed traveling, seeing the country, camping, but mostly being surrounded by family, laughing and having a good time. There were so many good times!

Archie is survived by his wife, Dorothy; children, Allan (Sara) Dash, Diane (David) Handy, and Darlene Dash, and granddaughter Sheila Dash.

At this time, no formal services are scheduled for Archie. The family will hold a private gathering to share stories, laugh, cry, and celebrate the incredible man Archie was.

The family would like to give special thanks to Bristol Hospice and Prairie Gardens Assisted Living staff for their exceptional care for Archie.
