After high school he attended Temple University and returned home to Sherburne. He then decided to backpack around Ireland seeing the countryside and visiting family for a few weeks. Upon his return he bartended at the inn until he started working for Victory Markets/Great American running the inventory crew. In 1988 he went to work for Chenango County as the Deputy Treasurer until his retirement in 2022.
In 1974 he met the love of his life, Gail Rauch. They were married in August 1975 at the family camp on Lake Craine in Earlville, NY. He and Gail decided to build their own home on the Young family farm in Sherburne where they raised their family and enjoyed many good times. Oh the good times were had!
Ardean is survived by his wife of 50 years, Gail and his children and grandchildren. Lindsey and Dan Mooney of Sherburne and their children Anna Belle, Finley and Madelyn. Christopher and Erin Young of Sherburne and their children Charlotte, Dean, Hazel and Harvey. Additionally, he is also survived by his aunt, Patricia Ryan of Norwich and several Young and Ryan cousins including Doug Downing, Donna Deacon, Ross Downing, Colette and Brad Hall, their children and grandchildren.
Ardean loved family trips, a good concert or a haunted house. He was so very proud of the accomplishments of his children and grandchildren and enjoyed attending all the sporting events and school concerts or anything else they were involved in.
