Celia Burr Parent, 84, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 21, 2025 at UHS Chenango Memorial Hospital.
Born in Rochester, NY to Edgar and Mary (Fitzpatrick) Burr. She grew up and graduated from New Berlin, NY. After graduation she moved with her family to Utica, NY where she went to school for cosmetology. Later in life, she moved to Johnson City, NY and earned her Licensed Practical Nursing degree and then moved to Oxford, NY where she worked at the New York State Veterans’ Home.
Ceil was an avid swimmer, enjoyed many crafts, berry picking, and traveling. She was very kindhearted and always thinking of others. She could feed a crowd and was known for her desserts from scratch.
Ceil is survived by her children, Elizabeth Keene, Patrick (Magaly) Keene, Aaron (Mary Ann) Keene, Ryan (Erin) Keene, and Victoria (Jake) Divine; step-children, Lynn (John) DeForest, Pamela Kalman, Allen Parent; and many nieces and nephews. She adored her 18 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, Robert Parent; sister, Edith Smith; and brother, Richard Burr.
To honor Ceil’s wishes, there will be no formal services. Funeral arrangements are entrusted with the Wilson Funeral Home.
