On February 3, 2026, Ariana Joy LaBelle, lovingly known by her Dakota name Hante Topa Win-Four Cedars Woman-passed away at her home in Enemy Swim, South Dakota. She was just 22 years old. A life so full of promise, love, and light was taken far too soon, leaving behind grief that words cannot fully capture. Ariana was born on November 27, 2003, in Sisseton, South Dakota. She was deeply rooted in her Native American identity, which was a source of pride, strength, and connection for both her and her family. Her Dakota name reflected her spirit-grounded, resilient, and quietly powerful, like the cedars themselves. Ariana truly lived up to her middle name, Joy. She was a light in everyone's life-someone who made people feel seen, welcomed, and loved just by being herself. Kind, genuine, and unapologetically authentic, Ariana had a way of lifting others up without even trying. Her laughter, her presence, and her heart left a lasting mark on everyone who had the privilege of knowing her. She was the beloved daughter of Jessica LaBelle and Tyler Sullivan. From birth Ariana was blessed with her Kunsi Ione Eagle who held her so close growing up as if she were her own. Alongside the love of her parents and Kunsi, Ariana was also lovingly raised with the care, guidance, and devotion of Nicole and Carla LaBelle, who played an essential role in her upbringing. Their steady presence, patience, and unconditional love helped shape and mold Ariana into the kind, compassionate, and beautifully free-spirited young woman she became. The values they instilled and the love they gave are woven into who Ariana was and will continue to live on through her memory. From a very young age, Ariana lived with asthma, a condition that deeply impacted her daily life and shaped many of her experiences. As a child, she loved to dance fancy shawl at pow-wows and was drawn to sports, especially basketball, but over time, her health made it difficult for her to continue doing the physical activities she enjoyed most. Though this loss was not easy, Ariana faced it with quiet strength and resilience. Her journey with asthma was a significant part of her story, one that deserves awareness and understanding. Even so, she continued to live a life filled with creativity, love, and meaning, finding new ways to experience joy and connection. Her life was beautiful-not in spite of her struggles, but alongside them. Ariana's life journey took her to many places she called home, including Sisseton and Enemy Swim, South Dakota; Naples, Florida; and West Fargo, North Dakota. She attended Enemy Swim Day School, Manatee Middle School, Cheyney Middle School, West Fargo High School, and Waubay High School, carrying her adaptability and warmth wherever she went. She worked at Taco John's in West Fargo and later at Pickerel Lake Lodge and Hilltop Steakhouse, where she formed deep friendships and cherished working alongside people she loved. The Pickerel Lake community held a special place in her heart, and many of her lifelong connections were made there. Ariana found joy in the simple and meaningful things in life. She loved music-especially Kali Uchis, Billie Eilish, Mac Miller, and Johnny Cash. She treasured time spent playing Xbox with her siblings, especially their tradition of playing what she lovingly called "Shorknite." Nature brought her peace-whether she was on walks, rock hunting, fishing, or simply sitting by the water with her beloved fur babies. Her creativity shined through her love for drawing, tattoos, makeup, cooking, and baking, and she had a special talent for capturing the beauty of sunsets through photography. Ariana enjoyed playing pool with friends and family, going for cruises, watching TikTok, and attending concerts. She loved shows and games like The Walking Dead, Marvel, The Vampire Diaries, The Last of Us, and Red Dead Redemption 2, often sharing those moments with her siblings. Her animals meant the world to her-especially her baby pup Phoenix and her cat Wulf-and her gentle heart extended even to the stuffed animals she won at work, which she joyfully gave away to friends, family, or her fur family. Ariana's love was generous, her spirit was radiant, and her presence was a gift. Though her time here was far too short, the impact she made will live on through stories, laughter, music, sunsets, and the deep love she leaves behind.
