Arlen Lee Pruett, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully at the age of 89 on December 29, 2025, in
Corpus Christi, Texas. Known for his faithful and loyal personality and handy nature.
Arlen was born on November 21,1936, in
Cement, Oklahoma, Arlen graduated from Burkburnett High School Class of 1954 as the Salutatorian and went on to earn a bachelor's degree in biology and education from Midwestern State University in Wichita Falls, Texas. His love for knowledge was only matched by his dedication to service, which led him to join the Army as a 2nd Lieutenant in August 1959. Arlen's military career was marked by distinction; he left active service in August 1962 as a First Lieutenant, honorably discharged with commendations as an expert rifleman and sharpshooter. He continued to serve his country in the Army Reserves until he was honorably discharged in 1978 as a Major.
His professional life was as diverse as it was successful. Arlen was a natural salesman, known for his charismatic approach and connection with his clients. Later, he channeled his entrepreneurial spirit into founding Pruett Architectural Layout, a construction business that thrived under his leadership and became known for its quality and integrity. After he retired from his construction business he worked for Pacesetter Steel Property Management as a handyman.
Arlen's family was the cornerstone of his life. He was a devoted husband to his wife of 27 years, Christine Pruett, and a loving father to his children, Melvin (Lynn), Gary (Lisa), Billy, Tim (Jill), and Vicki. He was also a proud stepfather to Matthew Cazalas (Julie) and Courtney Arnold (Bo). His role as a grandfather brought him immeasurable joy, as he shared his love and life lessons with his grandchildren, Marissa, Kevin, James, Quentin, Gideon, Benjamin, Jeannie, Kirsten, Ty, Aidin, Peyton, Teman, Jayden, Raeley, and Kacie Lee. Sister, Arlene Zufall and many nieces and nephews. Arlen was preceded in death by his parents, Jesse and Ruby Pruett; Brother, Donald Pruett; and Sister, Carolyn Cone.
He was a man who lived his beliefs, offering kindness and support to those around him. His interests were as colorful as his personality. Arlen had a passion for dancing with his wife, Chris, and was known for his playful spirit, often accused of cheating at cards or any game he played – all in good fun. An avid outdoorsman, he cherished his time hunting and fishing, relishing the tranquility and excitement that nature provided. Arlen's sense of humor was legendary. He was quick with a joke and always ready to share a laugh, brightening the lives of those he encountered. His ability to fix anything earned him the affectionate title of "handyman," and his vibrant energy made him the life of any gathering. As we remember Arlen Lee Pruett, we celebrate a life lived to the fullest and a legacy of love, laughter, and service that will continue to inspire all who knew him. Arlen's memory will forever be etched in the hearts of his family, friends, and the many lives he touched along his remarkable journey.
