Arlene (Nook) Kuschel
1933-2023
Arlene passed in Lakeville, Minnesota on December 22, 2023 after a brief illness.
Arlene grew up the daughter of Grace and Alex in rural Minnesota in the 1930s and 40s, a sister to Beverly and to brothers Bobby and Buzzy. Her upbringing imparted a love of the outdoors and the water. She was a great shot and an avid angler throughout most of her life.
Arlene was a talented craftsperson, as anyone lucky enough to have one of her crocheted blankets or doilies can attest to.
Arlene was also a very good baker and cook. She canned pickles, jams and jellies with her grandchildren, nieces and nephews; which right out of the pressure cooker immediately became hot commodities within the extended family. In the course of her life, she filled hundreds if not thousands of tins of the best Christmas cookies anyone could ever hope to get their hands on.
Arlene was the spouse of Erv Kuschel for as long as her grandchildren have known her. Arlene and Erv made many locations their home throughout their lives and made many friends. Wherever they wound up, it was a more fun and loving place when they got there. Ice fishing, pontooning, tooling around in Erv's little red sports car; there are too many laughs and stories to count.
Arlene worked for many years as a partner in her husband Erv's varied business ventures before his sudden passing at their Florida home in the late 1990s.
Arlene spent her latter years closer to her birthplace and family in central Minnesota. She is lovingly remembered by her sister Beverly, grandchildren Keith (Bonnie) and Alyssa (Bryan), great grandchildren Masyn, Myles and Mycah. Many In-Laws, nieces, nephews and cousins from both Erv's and Arlene's extended families have their own cherished memories of Nook as well.
She is being reunited with brothers Bobby and Buzzy, long-time husband Erv, first husband Charles, Son Keith, Daughter Janine and Grandson Matt.
Services will be held at Washburn-McReavy Funeral Chapel in Bloomington, Minnesota on January 17 with visitation of family and friends at 10am and Service at 11am.
