Arlene C. Madej

Arlene Catherine Madej passed away on Tuesday, April 15th, 2025 surrounded by her family. She was born October 13th, 1935 the daughter of the late Paul and Clara (Kavanaugh) Druziak.
She was a graduate of Saint Mary's Institute, Class of 1953. Arlene was the wife of Ted (Thaddeaus) Madej. They were high school sweethearts and married on May 22nd,1954. Arlene and Ted were married for 70 years until Ted's passing on April 12th, 2025.
Arlene worked for the former Amsterdam Printing and Litho Company and as a waitress for several years. Her most important and favorite job was being a mother. Her interests were History and Music. She played the piano, organ and accordion. She loved all types of music, but Elvis was her favorite. Her hobbies included playing bingo, taking care of her flowers, cooking for her family, and traveling for over 40 years to Maine, Cape Cod, Myrtle Beach, Florida, Prince Edward Island and many lighthouse destinations along the East Coast. Arlene enjoyed visiting the Hagaman Stewart's Shop to buy scratch off lottery tickets, it was one of her favorite pastimes. She was a communicant of St. Mary's and St. Stephen's Roman Catholic Churches.
She is survived by her children, Susan (Tom) Ressel and Thomas (Pam) Madej; grandchildren Heather Staats, Bret Madej, Ryan Madej, Sara Colvin, Erica Ressel, Karleigh Madej and Andrew Madej; and her great-grandchildren Dylan Staats, Landon Colvin and Kinsley Madej. She is also survived by her sister, Joan Bez, and brother, Dennis (Laurie) Druziak. She was predeceased by her son, Richard Madej, her sister, Paula Druziak, and grandson, Seth Madej.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered for Arlene and Ted on Monday, April 21, 2025 at 11:30 AM at St. Stephen's Roman Catholic Church, 51 N. Pawling St., Hagaman, NY with Father Juanito Asprec P.V. as celebrant. A calling hour will take place on Monday prior to the funeral Mass at the church from 10:00 to 11:00 AM.
Interment will be in Hagaman Mills Cemetery, Hagaman, NY.
