Arletta Mary Louise Gaskins, age 94, of Chillicothe, passed away on Thursday, January 16, 2025 at OSF Richard L. Owens Hospice Home in Peoria.
Arletta was born on October 30, 1930 in Woodlawn, IL to Charles and Martha (Riechman) Carroll. She married David Gaskins on September 2, 1950. He preceded her death. Also preceding her in death are her parents; her son, Charles; her son-in-law, Randy Goodwin; her brother, George Carroll; her sister, Luella McKinney; her granddaughter, Bess and her great-great-granddaughter, Ravina.
Surviving are her children, Karen Goodwin of Peoria, IL, Don (Teresa) Gaskins of Jacksonville, FL and Fred (Lori) Gaskins of Chillicothe, IL; her grandchildren, Brian (Jessica) Hurt, Ashley (Eric) Zborowski, Amber (Jerry) Maronde, Kaely (Joe) Rath, Lindsay (Nate) Bjerke and Kelsey (Austin) Gramby; her great-grandchildren, Bodhi, Emma, Owen, Alyse, Grayson, Jackson, Hudson, Cohen, Oliver, Alec, Tessa and Colten; two step-grandchildren, Emma and Daniel; and two great-great-grandchildren, Zaigan and Casey. Also surviving are many nieces and nephews.
Arletta worked for Hiriam Walker and later for Caterpillar for many years, when she retired in the mid-1980s. She was an active member of the Chillicothe Christian Church as well as a member of Pearce Community Center, and American Legion Ladies Auxiliary Unit #9 and volunteered at Helping Hands.
Services will be held on Monday, January 20, 2025 at 11am at Chillicothe Christian Church. Visitation will be held on Sunday, January 19, 2025 from 4pm to 6pm at Weber-Hurd Funeral Home in Chillicothe as well as one hour prior to the service on Monday. Burial will follow the service Chillicothe City Cemetery. Memorials in her name may be made to Chillicothe Christian Church or the Disabled American Veterans.
