Arletta (June) Oliver, 90, of Valparaiso, passed away Saturday, May 31, 2025 at home. She was born April 6, 1935 in Central City, Kentucky to Elvie and Hazel (Wells) Weatherford. June is survived by her son Rick (Donna) Oliver of Santan Valley, Arizona; her daughters Denise (Dan) Shively of Fort Myers, Florida, Cyndi (Garry) Hessling of Fort Myers, Florida and Sara (Derek) Pierce of Valparaiso. Also surviving her previous son-in law Pat Baker and his wife Suzanne, her sister Kay (Norm) Stick of Cedar Lake; 10 grandchildren Kimberly (Brian) Rambo, Daniel Shivley, Patrick (Clover) Baker, Adam (Rachel) Baker, Jeremy (Jen) Oliver, Jonathan (Rosemary) Oliver, Amy (Zach) McLane, Jordan (Samantha) Pierce, Jonah (Ashlee) Pierce and Jacob Pierce; 17 great grandchildren Noah, Charlie, Evie, Juliet, Isabel, Mason, Audrey, Owen, Killian, Luna, Adrien, Lilith, Ezra, Eli, Olivia, Penelope, and Rylee. She was preceded in death by her husband John Oliver, her parents, her great granddaughter Eleanor, three brothers Alton (Irene) Weatherford, Glen (Agnes) Weatherford, and Ronnie (Wanda) Weatherford; and her sister Phyllis (Junior) Powell. June grew up in Central City, Kentucky and in 1951 at the age of 16 she was crowned Queen of the Annual Western Kentucky Coal Festival Beauty Contest. She married John T. Oliver in 1952 and moved to Black Oak, Indiana. June lived in many places since then including Hobart Township, Portage, Valparaiso, Phoenix, Arizona and Fort Myers, Florida. June was a member of Portage Ave. Baptist Church for 38 years where she taught Sunday School, Vacation Bible School, and served in many other areas. Most of the time while serving there, her son Rick was her pastor which brought her so much joy. June touched the lives and brought so much joy to everyone she met. Her legacy of love and devotion to God and her family will last forever. There are no services at this time. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in memory of June can be made to the Baptist Childrens Home, 354 West St. #1, Valparaiso, IN 46383. Bartholomew Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
