Arlie Campbell

Arlie Campbell, Sr., of Austin, Indiana , passed away peacefully at his residence on Tuesday, August 19, 2025, at the age of 82. Born on September 24, 1942, in Yerkes, Kentucky, Arlie was the beloved son of the late Charlie Campbell and Martha (Gibson) Campbell.

Arlie's journey through life was marked by a steadfast commitment to his family and his work. He found his lifelong partner in Mary Lou Campbell, and together they built a life filled with love and mutual respect until her passing. Arlie's career at Cummins Engine Company in Columbus, Indiana, was characterized by his exemplary work ethic and the respect he earned from his colleagues. Arlie was a member of the Masonic Lodge F&AM #120, the Shriners, and the Scottish Rite. His dedication to helping others was further exemplified by his 30-plus years of service with the J.T.V.F.D., where he was a retired member.

Arlie's memory will be cherished by his brother, Roland Campbell of Austin, Indiana, who, along with the rest of the family, will miss him dearly. His legacy will live on through his grandchildren, Arlie Campbell II (Clarissa) of Austin and Kayla Shelton of Commiskey, Indiana, as well as his great-grandchildren, Olive, Huxley, Emersyn, Charlie, and Arlie IV. His daughter-in-law, Linda Campbell, along with many nieces and nephews, will hold onto the memories of Arlie's kindness and wisdom.

The Campbell family has faced the loss of several loved ones, including Arlie's son, Arlie Campbell, Jr., his daughter, Angie Shelton, and his grandson, Zach Shelton. Arlie was also preceded in death by his sister, Wanda Baker, and his brothers, Vernon, Herman, Raleigh, and Donnie Ray Campbell. Each of them held a special place in Arlie's heart, and he is now reunited with them in eternal peace.

Arlie's life will be celebrated with a funeral service at 3:00 pm on Monday, August 25, 2025, at Buchanan Funeral Home in Austin, Indiana. The service will be officiated by Rev. Kennith Hollan. Friends and family are invited to pay their respects during visitation hours from 10 am to 3 pm on the day of the service.

Following the service, Arlie will be laid to rest at Wesley Chapel Cemetery in Austin, Indiana,
